Overview
The full-day excursion to Rainbow Mountain and the Red Valley, in the Peruvian region of Cuzco, is very popular. It starts early in the morning and takes about 10 hours, with transportation to and from the hotel. Rainbow Mountain, also known as Vinicunca, displays vibrant colors at an altitude of over 5,000 meters. The 1.5 to 2 hour hike to the summit can be difficult due to the steep terrain and high altitude. After the visit to the Rainbow Mountain, the tour to the Red Valley is optional, famous for its impressive red rock formations and panoramic views of the mountains. The Red Valley hike takes approximately one hour and is less strenuous. This excursion offers a wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Cuzco and get some physical activity. Please note that acclimatization to the altitude and preparation with warm clothing, sun protection and plenty of water are essential.
